Bernard Gilpin
This is part of my regional linocuts series, based around northern England. Historical portraits play a small, yet important role in my art portfolio.
Bernard Gilpin was a 16th century English Cleric and reformer, who did a lot of work in the north of England and is buried in the church of the local community where I am from, in Houghton-Le-Spring, Sunderland.
The artwork showcases the craftmanship of the artist here, through carefully considered lines and flair for the medium.
