Memories of Quang Tri: Fishing Boats by the Sea
This work shows fishing boats along the shoreline, under a dramatic sky, with the sea opposite.
The piece is kind of a semi-abstract, mish-mash of lines, shapes and space. I have glued different materials to the surface of the linoleum to create more unusual textures in this original wall art piece.
Fruit netting has been used to mimic an actual fishing net in the right foreground.
Sandpaper echoes not only the sand of the beach, but lends a graininess to the image. This is similar to an old black and white photograph, which expresses the timeless quality of the shoreline and old boats of this area.
