Cavernous 4

£320.00

Cavernous 4 is a hand-carved original linocut print that explores the dramatic light, shadow, and tactile textures of subterranean geology and liminal spaces. Inspired by a fusion of industrial pit heritage and raw limestone cave formations, this relief print features dense, hand-carved gouge work, fractured rock faces, and towering structural chasm details.

Beyond its standalone composition, Cavernous 4 serves as a key structural panel within the larger multi-piece modular linocut installation, Between the Hollow and the Wire. Within the 6-panel composite layout, this specific block features twice—once in its standard orientation alongside an industrial shipyard hook and other motifs, and a second time inverted to create a mirrored, echoing chasm effect across the installation. This dual placement reinforces the themes of recurrence, psychological tension, and shifting physical perspectives central to the overall series.

Individually hand-pulled and hand-burnished without a printing press using a traditional wooden baren, each print retains the subtle physical pressure and unique tactile characteristics of the artist's hand. Printed with oil-based ink on premium 245gsm archival paper.
